July Activities

Well there’s no question now…summer is in full tilt!

Here are some activities to consider while you soak up the sunshine and fresh mountain air:

1)      Stand Up Paddle Board

A multitude of glacial lakes lie at the base of the Tetons and provide a perfect means for enjoying breathtaking views on a hot summer day—just try not fall in as you’re mesmerized by the surrounding  mountains!

2)      Take a hike!

The possibilities are practically endless. The following are two great websites with detailed explanations of hikes in the surrounding National Forest and National Parks: http://www.fs.usda.gov/activity/btnf/recreation/hiking and http://www.nps.gov/grte/planyourvisit/hike.htm

3)      Listen to a free concert

Jackson Hole Live is a free outdoor summer concert series that occurs 5 times throughout the summer, two of which occur in July! Visit jacksonholelivemusic.comfor more information!

4)      Visit the Teton County Fair and Rodeo!

This classic Jackson Hole event takes begins July 17th and runs through July 28th, with bi-weekly rodeos taking place through Labor Day weekend. For a full schedule of events, including the famous figure-8 races and pig wrestling, check out tetoncountyfair.com.

5)      Become a mountaineer!

It’s one thing to look at the mountains, while it’s another to truly become a part of them. If this strikes your fancy, there are a number of ways to delve into the sport of mountaineering in a relatively safe fashion with companies like Exum Mountain Guides (www.exumguides.com) and Jackson Hole Mountain Guides (www.jhmg.com). Whether you’d like to climb the Grand Teton or learn to rock climb, they can lead you!

6)      Art Gallery Walk

On July 17th, the Jackson Hole Gallery Association hosts an “art walk” for the public to stroll through their member galleries between the 5 and 8 pm. This fun, cultural experience occurs on the third Thursday of every month, so if you don’t make it in July, you can always try again in August!

7)      Farmer’s Market

Every Saturday during the summer you can visit the Town Square to purchase and sample local produce, meat, and other goodies! This is a wonderful way to enjoy organic food in a local environment—remember to get there early as things tend to sell out quickly!
